Why is this position open?

Describe the current team this person will join, including the reporting structure.
The person who joins our Bay Area team will report the Director of Academics, Sherry Suisman. There is an annual review process for all staff members and ongoing support and coaching for instructors. Sherry has a great deal of teaching experience to help develop her instructors.
There are four IT instructors on our staff who form our IT Team and this group works together every day, planning lessons, developing curriculum, working on special projects, and supporting the rest of the staff with IT support.
The IT instructors are also part of a larger academic team and serve in a Year Up learning community as an advisor and team member. All staff are driven strongly by Year Up’s mission and work hard to better the services we provide to students. We are a rapidly growing organization so there is room for advancement on site and at our partner sites.
What percentage of the candidate's time will be spent on existing products/business, versus items that are new?
There is an existing but evolving Tech curriculum. The IT instructor has a lot of room to make changes but doesn’t have to develop a curriculum from scratch. The IT curriculum is taught in conjunction with several existing courses in the Computer Networking and Information Technology department at City College of San Francisco.
Developing curriculum and teaching at Year Up is a highly collaborative process. Our Tech Instructors work together every day to deliver a high quality product to our students, paying attention to differentiated learning and to the expectations of our corporate partners.
